Galveston Community Tennis Association
The Galveston Community Tennis Association, established in 2015, has partnered with USTA Community Tennis Association in March 2020 registered as a CTA with a focus on community. Founded by Josephine Sullivan, the group’s goal is to provide a safe place where all people can play tennis, regardless of skill, ability, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. GTA promotes tennis throughout Galveston County and the Gulf Coast Region in partnership with the United States Tennis Association and the City of Galveston Parks & Recreation.
Galveston Community Tennis Association is a program by and through the Christina Sullivan Foundation a 501c3 public charity. Many of the members also provide friendships as “Buddy” Volunteers and Volunteer Coaches for the Christina Sullivan Foundations Special Olympics Adaptive and Unified Programs in Galveston and the Gulf Coast Area.
Scholarships for High School Tennis Players will be awarded for students who have volunteered in our community and have shown leadership and compassion in assisting others.
An exciting new program for Galveston Tennis Association in 2021 Unified Social Sunday for Adaptive and Unified Tennis. An able-bodied (non-disabled) tennis player will play alongside an intellectually or physically challenged athlete. Playing and Caring Unified!
