Galveston Community Tennis Association
The Galveston Tennis League, established in 2015, has partnered with USTA Community Tennis Association in 2020 registered as a CTA with a focus on community. Founded by Josephine Sullivan, the group’s goal is to provide a safe place where all people can play tennis, regardless of skill, ability, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. GTA promotes tennis throughout Galveston County and the Gulf Coast Region in partnership with USTA (United States Tennis Association) and the City of Galveston Parks & Recreation.
Galveston Community Tennis Association is a program by and through the Christina Sullivan Foundation a 501c3 public charity. Many of these amazing tennis players also provide friendships as “Buddy” Volunteers and Volunteer Coaches for the Foundations Special Olympics Adaptive and Unified Programs in Galveston and the Gulf Coast Area. GTA will hold its first Casino Night and Awards Banquet in 2021 with all proceeds of this special evening event going towards scholarships for High School Tennis Players.
An Exciting New Program in 2021 for the Special Needs Community will be a Social Unified Sunday for Adaptive and Unified Tennis. An able-Body non-disabled tennis player will play alongside an intellectually or physically challenged athlete. Playing and Caring Unified!
